Most of Michael Cox’s  paintings spring from places he has visited only in his dreams. Self-taught and a master of poignant clarity and detail, he explains, “My goal is to bring a tangible reality to thoughts and ideas.”

 

Cox’s world is recognizable for the luminescence he infuses into every landscape and  fantasy world.  Even his people and animals seem to come from a distinctly different place. There is the sense that Cox may be giving us a preview of some otherworldly existence.  Born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and a resident of Napa Valley, he manages to capture an especially bright light and warmth in every one of his pictures.
